My training and numerous advanced courses, ranging from classical painting to sculpture and more, as well as collaborations with many international glass artists, have shaped my working methods and influenced my pieces. In many of my works, I utilize cross-technical approaches, and since these pieces often cannot be realized alone, I work in teams with fellow colleagues. Storytelling is at the forefront of my work, but abstract designs, installations, and functional glass also complement my spectrum.
Wilhelm Vernim has been working with glass as a material for over 40 years. After training as a glass engraver and glass designer, and obtaining his master craftsman’s certificate as a glass refiner, he worked in his own studio for 13 years. For 11 years, he taught at the glass technical colleges in Rheinbach and Hadamar, among others. Since 2014, he has been working as a freelance artist again, teaching courses around the globe, curating exhibitions, and remaining active in the “Glass Engraving Network” (GEN).
