GLASS the FASCINATION

The design of the glass pictures and glass objects finds strong expression through the realization of my designs using various types of glass. The transparency of glass in its diversity of colors is consistently the foundation for the design and the concepts. The artistic designs, in turn, bring the element of glass to life. It brings expression of a special KIND.

In perceiving transparency, a threshold or boundary is always crossed. Light spaces emerge primarily through the composition with glass, and with the constant interplay between different times of day, the colors appear quite differently in natural and artificial light. Thus, the object continually takes on a new expression. Glass and light lead to glass composition.

The long artistic activity around and with glass, the transformation of glass into art, I always see as a special artistic challenge. Seminars and workshops in several glass studios on the long journey around and with glass have shaped me (glass-shaped me).

The Kramsach Glass School was very decisive for me. The Frauenau Summer Academy, working in Gernheim, Rheinbach, Schloß Holte, and in Poland have also greatly influenced my glass design. I have received high recognition at many exhibitions at home and abroad. For example, at the Hentrich Museum Düsseldorf, at the German Historical Museum in Berlin, as well as in Novy Bor in the Czech Republic and in Roermond (Netherlands). Further exhibitions at
Brauweiler Abbey, at the Glass Museum Linnich, at the Immenhausen Glass Prize, at the Hadamar Glass School, as well as at the Rhine Tower Düsseldorf and at the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf, and also at the Glassart Gallery in Innsbruck. For many years, I have also participated in exhibitions with the artist association spektrum88 Mönchengladbach.

In 2014, I received the award “Kaleidoscope of the Senses” with the sculpture “Spiral of Life”
from the ProArte Art Promotion Association Lower Rhine.
