Gabriele Riester

Glass, as one of the most versatile materials, continually inspires me in its processing to explore new forms of expression, also in relation to other materials such as metal, ceramics and stone. The silky matte surface of kiln-formed glass fascinates me in its expressiveness more than mechanically polished high gloss.

Gabriele Riester worked as an art teacher. Since 1996, through annual advanced training at the International Summer Academy in Frauenau, she has engaged with stained glass, kiln-formed glass, pâte de verre and, not least, mixed media. Her objects are represented in national and international exhibitions and museums. She lives and works in Herdecke near Dortmund.
